A poem about the trials of love and lust “In a Nutshell”

I wrote this several years back when I was going through a tough time. In a bizarre and totally abnormal way re-reading this makes me somehow miss being an angsty twenteen…..on second thoughts – no it doesn’t!

In a Nutshell

Twisted tales and words so cold
Vicious lies you have been told
A simple man so scarred and jaded
The memory has all but faded

But one can never get away
From petty nonsense day by day
Bleak and empty, I must tell
I had to leave for life was Hell
Trapped like a bird in the palm of a hand
Two sides to a story you don’t understand

Then a fickle lover, tongue of steel
Just a flesh wound it will heal
An eye for an eye
A soul for a soul
It’s always bad news when you date a troll

And swiftly onwards this tale must go
A laughable saga and claims of woe
A music man, a petty feat
He told a lie that I did cheat

Left in London on my own
No where to stay, no-one to phone
But not enough was this revenge
So much more I’d have to fend
A ruined New Year he did say
Though many months had passed away

The story continues, another young fool
He tried to claim that he was the tool
A stupid lie to win a dame
But me as the victim of his game

So twisted lies they grew and grew
A bitter gremlin she did stew
Crazy tales, so obtruse
Which ended in futile abuse

A simple plot of fools so fickle
That landed one in such a pickle
Will we ever one day see
A humble pardon straight from thee?

I think it not, on your agenda
A Martyr Saint, A great pretender
But rhyming justice will be won
And just for now my tale is done.
